About

Lil Bee Writes is the home for the musings of Lillian Bolster. Lillian is an artist living and creating in Atlanta, Georgia and despite her lack of a southern accent she actually is a native of Atlanta. When it came time to go to  college she didn’t listen to her dad and go to a less expensive state school like UGA, instead she ran for the hills and went to UNC Asheville. There she got a Bachelors degree in art with an emphasis in ceramics. She took a little break to study abroad in Cortona, Italy- another hill town- through the University of Georgia in Athens- so in a small way her dad got his way.

After college she came back to Atlanta to set up shop in a shared studio called The Atlanta Clayworks where she creates her handbuilt pottery and sculpture. She fires her work in one of three electric kilns at her studio from which she can get bright vivid colors. She takes breaks from color and fires her work in Anagama kilns, wood kilns, which brings forth lots of earth tones from the atmosphere of wood fire fueled kiln. Since she lives in the city which has lots of zoning restrictions and can’t yet afford her own kiln yet she goes down to Macon, Georgia to help others fire their Anagama kilns in exchange in exchange for firing her work.

He world doesn’t all revolve around clay though, she dabbles in a number of other mediums in addition to ceramics. She draws, paints, takes photographs and cooks.
